Nico Stoudermire (born December 10, 1990), also known as Nico Cortez, I began to pursue my dreams of recording and producing my own sound in the year 2014 but has been involved with music my entire life and have been working tirelessly ever since. I am an African American singer/producer/audio engineer/ghostwriter from the eastern side of the city of Birmingham, Alabama, while continuing to further my education at Tuskegee University majoring in the study of Mathematics. The name Nico Cortez came from my first and middle name. My mother had me when she was a young 13 years old so she and her grandparents raised me. Over the years my mother would encourage me to keep pushing even when I didn’t think I was cut out for this. My mother’s untimely passing was the hardest thing I experienced at the time. I was sure if I would want to continue to do music after my biggest fan left this world. It took some time but I was inspired to create again and now I’m a new artist with a new motivation to push me. My grandparents are still with me so I still have to do my absolute best for them while I have them.
